CREC International Magnet School for Global Citizenship

South Windsor, Connecticut
The International Magnet School for Global Citizenship (IMS) is programmed, planned, and designed to nurture and support the education and development of 435 students from grades pre-K through 5. The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme serves as the school’s curriculum and foundation for day-to-day goals and overall mission.

Within the 65,000 sf facility, students and faculty are provided purpose-built spaces designed to reinforce the IB goals of global citizenship. A “globally connected” media center and technology lab anchors the school at the center, literally and figuratively fulfilling the facility requirement required by the IB curriculum. Art and Music rooms along with community spaces, including the “blue box” hybrid theater-gymnasium, help to activate the public face of the building while smaller-scaled grade-level neighborhoods support the varying developmental needs of both lower and upper elementary students.
